Avril has practiced in the area of insurance defence litigation with an emphasis on the defence of claims against municipalities since her call to the Bar in 2000. She most frequently defends road authority, motor vehicle, occupiers’ liability, building inspection, errors and omissions and flooding claims. Avril has lectured and written about a variety of public sector law topics and is a regular presenter at municipal risk management seminars.
